Trend Projects

Collar Me Beautiful

From studded, printed, embelished, lace or printed, this season's must have accessory is the collar. Contrasting collars create added effect and also frame the face. Shirts are buttoned to the edge of the collar to create a cutesy edge. Detachable collars are no longer reserved for the runways and can be seen across all markets. They are a great accessory for adding impact to a simple neckline.

Panel Parade

A huge trend for this autumn/winter is paneling. Paneling can be seen amongst fabrics of different colours and textures. The contrast of fabrics creates interesting effects in garments. Paneling occurs in jackets or coats in the form of a contrasting sleeve, pocket or collar. It can also be used in the form of striping in dresses or tops and can define the lines of the body to create a fitted siluette.

Hourglass

This season is all about the hourglass figure. The peplum trend that arose last season gave way to belts and clinched waists and we are now seeing waisted details everywhere this autumn. Tailored curves and belts are used to created this elegant and feminine shape. For extra definition team  a belt with a coat or a knitted piece.

Supersize Me

This autumn/winter fitted tailoring is out and oversizing is in. Cocoon coats. billowing sleeves and off the body trousers can be seen from runways to highstreet. Shoulders are relaxed and lengths are long creating striking volume. For maximum impact pair oversized garments with fitted ones. Jewellery and accesories should be kept to a minimum to emphasise the oversized garment. A belt may be worn over an oversized garment to clinch the waist but still retain then efect.

Born of War

This year the military trend is back with force especially in menswear. On the runways militant tailoring dominates the trend and in the highstreet this is combined with camouflage prints. Olive and khaki tones are the most popular colours this autumn. Accessories such as shoes, boots, satchels, also possess qualities of the military trend.

Peaches and Cream

Pink is always popular with girls' clothing but this season bright vibrant shades are being traded for dusty tones. Paired with nudes and creams these colours create a soft look that can be seen throughout children's wear this autumn. In boys clothing the dusty creams are paired with jeans or highlights of browns to complete this look.

First Impressions

Our first design project of second year is almost over. So here is a bit of what I've been working on for the last few weeks.

Having brainstormed and researched the original themes i decided to focus on interior architecture as my theme. My images were mainly curved structures such as altars, archways, fireplaces etc.

Designing through collage and drawing:

After rescaling my favourite pieces and mixing and matching to create full looks, I created my final line up:
